… Hunting with bloodhounds is one of the best-kept secrets in the British countryside …’

Established in 1992 The Cranwell Bloodhounds are a privately owned hunting pack that has gained a reputation for being friendly and welcoming; so following in a tradition of hunting with bloodhounds that can be traced back over five hundred years.

In this book, we hear from the Joint Masters, the Huntsmen, the Whippers In and the many volunteers who help make this pack the success it is today, plus the photography of Matt Limb who followed them from meet-to-meet for a full season.

This book came about by pure coincidence after Matt was watching The Cranwell Bloodhounds in the show ring at the Peterborough Festival of Hunting when he enquired if they would be willing to allow him to photograph them out hunting during the coming season.  In just a few weeks Matt made it to his first-ever bloodhound’s meet on a bright summer’s afternoon, as he watched the bloodhounds chase their quarry, which is a cross country runner.

During the following season, Matt joined The Cranwell Bloodhounds at almost every meet travelling around Lincolnshire and the East Midlands, working closely with the hunt staff allowing him access to vantage points to photograph all aspects of the hunt out in the field on a meet.  As the season progressed and working with the hunt staff the opportunity of a book evolved and with time this unique record of The Cranwell Bloodhounds, in their twenty-fifth hunting season, was published to capture and record the great heritage and tradition they bring to the British countryside.
